Academy Archive

At the June-2025 meeting of the Turkish Philatelic Academy, new project proposals were discussed and approved for launch. We are currently working on these projects and, as they reach a certain level of maturity, we will announce them in the coming months and ask for your support.

The first project we are introducing is titled “AKADEMI ARSIV” (Academy Archive). Within the scope of this project, we have decided to make accessible and share the valuable resources owned by our members.

So, what kind of resources are we talking about?
These include short news items from all philatelic journals published in Turkey, newspaper articles, pocket calendars, and documents from the archives of the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey. Also included are personal notes—both brief and detailed—taken by collectors during their research, as well as extensive and unpublished works running into thousands of pages by names such as Asaf Tanrıkulu and Niyazi Önder. In addition, the archive will feature historical correspondence between collectors (for example, the Adolf Passer – S. R. Turner letters), copies of exhibition sheets, stamp promotion leaflets, PTT circulars, and Palmares listings. This list, which is currently just a sample, is expected to expand considerably over time. A dedicated section will be created on our website to host the materials gathered for this archive.

So far, contributions to the “AKADEMI ARSIV” project have come from Mehmet Akan, Selçuk Akar, Timur Kuran, Hakan Arlı, Ziya Ağaoğulları, Atadan Tunacı, Emre Utku, Turan Tanyer, Hakan Yılmaz, Arman Arıkan, Devrim Rehber and Kaan Ertem (R.I.P). We are confident that these contributions will grow steadily over time.
