Foundation Story

 

The Academy emerged as a project from within the T.F.D.F. administration with the proposal of Mehmet Akan, Selçuk Akar and Atadan Tunacı. The Board of Directors approved the establishment of the “Turkey Federation of Philately Associations Philately Academy Working Group” with the decision taken on April 24, 2014. In this context, M. Ziya Ağaoğulları and Mehmet Akan, as the founding presidents on behalf of T.F.D.F., undertook the task of determining the first academy members and representing T.F.A. until the elections to be held. The founders completed their work and convened in Istanbul on Thursday, May 29, 2014 with the agenda of electing the Academy President. As a result of the election, Mr. Kayhan Akduman was unanimously elected as the President of the Academy. The President also elected his colleagues Mehmet Akan, Atadan Tunacı, Selçuk Akar, Hakan Orkut, Hakan Yılmaz, Necati Kazancı and Turhan Turgut.
